Business Board

This is a place to communicate, discuss, and when necessary, vote on matters affecting the website as a whole. The individual fellowships of AA, ACA, NA, Alanon, and CODA operate as separate entities. Moderator rights, post deletion etc are handled within the individual boards group conscience.

I laughed when I saw webhelpers, rather than webmasters... the name appeals... smile

Thanks Hidden and Freetime for the work on the ACA pages... ...it has customised our space, giving us some more ownership...

/\ The work you do behind the scenes has immeasurable value... aww ...

Reflections... when people were setting up the framework here.

At one time I copied a posting and spoke to the comment. OMG! Got my fingers rapped for that- or that was how it seemed. It is apparently a no-no on the Alanon board- and was seen as a form of cross-talk...

...on the ACA board people seem to copy posts a fair bit- and it was a part of our group culture.

I tended to  do it to acknowledge a posting with a smiley- message being: yep, I heard you.

AA Tradition 4.

[There is a big gap near here- which I couldn't take out- with an edit. ]

"Tradition 4: Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or AA as a whole."

Alanon tradition 4 includes AA in that measure.

ACA includes has the same measure of autonomy; this is tempered by a strong sense of responsibility. ACA co-operates with all other 12 Step groups.

My own ESH is about spending time at "Wits End", the shack Bill W. had on the hillside above Stepping Stones. This was where the first set of traditions were composed and refined. Along the edge of the desk were scars of cigarettes- where Bill had left his smoke to burn right back to the filter.

I like it here that we have five twelve steps working together, under the MIP Banner. I more than like it- I love it- that members have pitched in to build on John's legacy, and for each and every member to make this space their own.

Differences here, in group culture, are slight. I might see Alanon as big-sister, and AA as big-brother. But these images do not actually fit into contemporary realities, of course...

...as well as a measure of compliance, and of uniformity- I think it wise to remember- that each on of our 12 step groups in here, in Tradition 5- to reach out to others.

Today we might wisely question this- with respect to the ways we also learn to care for ourselves. The saying I happen to use here is- "Not to be self centred, but centred on self." Or, as we all often say: "Let it begin with me."

At conferences and conventions we expect to meet with the highly motivated. I find this here too- around the MIP boards.

Broadly, here... we do have the steps, the traditions, and the concepts of service- which we can all apply to our lives, and our groups, in a practical way.

Thanks for the share,

DavidG.
