This is a place to communicate, discuss, and when necessary, vote on matters affecting the website as a whole.
The individual fellowships of AA, ACA, NA, Alanon, and CODA operate as separate entities. Moderator rights, post deletion etc are handled within the individual boards group conscience.
Our web hosting account at GoDaddy will be up for renewal in May. The credit card on file needs to be updated. Is there someone in the MIP family who will volunteer their credit card so that we may have a valid method of payment?
If you are willing to help or if you have questions, post here (register on this board first), or send a private message to WebHelper from your usual fellowship's board.
Historically there was a personal PayPal account associated with the MIP payment to GoDaddy. The PayPal account collected donations up to the amount of the hosting cost for the year and then that Paypal account paid the GoDaddy bill either by CC or directly from the PayPal balance.
Thanks, Hidden! If the GoDaddy bill can be paid directly from a PayPal account, and we got the necessary donations in the PayPal account, then would the credit card on file be merely a "placeholder" as the GoDaddy account requires a non-expired credit card to be listed?
Inability to delete content, old posts and generally erase profile and traces (except responses of others even though that can be vilely misused to hold on to a person) => a drive to hinder ability to pay, making it stress and strainful to make payment possible, decreasing donations and placing burden on the ability of members to donate.
Hmmm... If someone wanted to delete and tidy up their forum- they would have to become a moderator.
We go to the admins for this- Hidden and Freetime.
Knowing you, as I do I would support this- at business board level. ...
Hmmm... I know that my post above is off the topic... ...
Our business board is a backup... ...for all our groups... maybe, each year- as the Tradition 7 giving comes up for discussion- that we have space here to raise any other issues- that might arise. I would not anticipate many.
But just a way- of tweaking- and testing the breeze. ...
Hmmm... same experience with MIP- as out here in the F2F world. It usually takes weeks and months to get a group up and running!
In ACA we got lots of one-off enquiries- and postings- maybe hard for people to get their heads around an online 24/7 group?
I would hate it if anyone started deleting our posts. Only if the mods see fit.
[And if any posters have behaviour issues [in ACA] they be given the right to change and do a step 10].
[Concept 5 has the answer. Our group had developed a great group conscience- hard won at times... and therefore well developed.]
We have the right and prerogative to delete, ot alter our own postings. I see the time when newcomers can pick someone they identify with- and then follow their journey through.
